Zijin Mining buys Kazakhstan’s Raygorodok gold mine for $1.2bn
Zijin’s unit Zijin Gold International agreed to buy the companies that own and run Raygorodok, one of Kazakhstan’s largest gold mines, from Verny Capital and its partner Resource Capital Funds. It was Zijin’s first major entry into Kazakhstan.
Why it matters. Chinese buyers are paying full prices for producing gold mines in regions where Western miners rarely bid.
